Asparagus Fern

A fun, frilly & feathery plant that is a great way to add light, airy texture to your indoor plant collection. Its cascading foliage looks great in a hanging basket, providing a nice vertical green element to any room. Needs humidity so a daily misting or a nearby pebble tray helps. Prefers medium to bright light & likes regular watering. Helps clean the air too!

Boston Fern

A longtime popular houseplant that can be used in homes & offices. Has stunning, full foliage that cascade from a hanging basket & nicely fill up a space. Likes medium light, high humidity & plenty of water.

 

Cissus Rotundifolia

A type of succulent vine that has interesting large, round leaves & makes for an unusual hanging basket. A fast grower, likes partial sun to shade & allow it to get dry between waterings.

Ficus Repens

A popular houseplant for a long time now, they are attractive, easy to grow & relatively hardy. Prefers bright indirect light, high humidity & for its soil to be steadily moist but do not let it sit in water (will cause leaves to drop & root rot).

 

Hemiontis arifolia

Also known as Heart Leaf Fern, it is an easy to grow houseplant. It’s almost-leathery, heart shaped leaves are interesting & beautiful. Keep soil evenly moist & provide bright, indirect light - don’t be afraid to trim as needed.

Hindu Rope

Also known as Hoya carnosa compacta, this plant has unique, twisting, curling leaves that vine making it perfect for a hanging basket. They can be found in solid green or variegated varieties. Needs very bright light (avoid afternoon sun as it could burn the leaves) & water when the soil is almost dry.

 

Hoya

A fun houseplant that comes in many varieties. Their long vines make them ideal plants for hanging baskets. Be sure not to cut the long tendrils as leaves & flowers will develop from these. Light depends on the specific Hoya variety, but most like bright to medium light & be sure the pot has good drainage as they are sensitive to too much water.

Kalanchoe Pumila

Also known as the Flower Dust Plant, it has interesting white to pale pink leaves that have a scalloped edge. Has a natural, powdery covering that protects it in full sun & gives it a frosty look. It’s vining nature makes it perfect for hanging baskets. Prefers bright light, good drainage & infrequent water - water deeply until waters run out the drainage hole, then wait for the soil to fully dry before watering again.

 

Kangaroo Paw Fern

Also known as Microsorum diversifolium, it is a very adaptable plant good in homes or offices. Has unique glossy, leathery fronds on semi-wiry stems that fill up a hanging basket beautifully. Prefers bright to medium indirect light, consistent humidity & damp, but not soaked, soil.

Kimberly Queen Fern

Also known as Australian Sword fern, it has a more compact, tidy form that other ferns & tends to be easier to care for. Its long, sword-shaped fronds never leave a mess & it is extremely adaptable. Prefers medium light, high humidity & to be watered when the top 2” of the soil dry out.

 

Lepismium Cruciforme

An epiphytic cactus (it will cling to things & climb) that has an interesting form & fleshy stems that get brighter in color with increased light. Needs bright, indirect light & regular waterings, once soil gets dry.

Lipstick Curly Plant

Also known as Aeschynanthus radicans, this is a fun, flowering, eye-catching houseplant! There are many Lipstick plant varieties to choose from with a range of colors & leaves! They prefer medium to bright light ( a brighter spot helps it to produce flowers), & moist soil but not overly wet - you want to prevent root rot from occuring.

 

Muechlenbeckia Vine

An interesting creeping wire vine that ‘explodes’ out of a hanging basket. Prefers bright to medium light & regular waterings when the top 2” of soil becomes dry. It’s a nice full plant for a hanging basket that helps add a vertical element to any room.

Othonna Capensis Ruby Necklace

An interesting plant with striking stem color that is perfect for hanging baskets. It likes room to vine & grow, good air circulation, bright to medium light & thorough waterings when the soil finally dries out.

 

Pilea Baby Tears

Also known as Soleirolia soleirolii, this plant creates an interesting “mat” of small, glossy leaves & is a create plant for beginner plant parents. Likes bright, filtered light & rich, slightly moist soil - do not let the soil dry out, but don’t leave standing water either.

Pothos ‘Green Queen’

Pothos are popular houseplants & this variety is no exception. Vibrantly green, glossy, heart-shaped, leathery leaves beautifully cascade out of a hanging basket. Can adapt to all lighting conditions, but does best in medium to bright indirect light. Likes soil to be on the dry side, so once the top 50% of the soil is dry then water it well.

 

Rabbit's Foot Fern

An interesting plant that gets its name from the furry rhizomes that grow & resemble a rabbit’s foot. The rhizomes are functional as well as decorative, as they absorb moisture & nutrients. A hanging basket helps show off these fun-looking rhizomes - make sure they are never buried by soil. Likes bright, indirect light & for the top of the soil to remain lightly moist.

Senecio Jacobsenii

Also known as Trailing Jade, this plant has large, vibrantly green leaves that cascade beautifully in a hanging basket. Prefers bright to medium light, very good draining soil & water once soil is dry - avoid overwatering, plant will suffer greatly.

 

Senecio Wax Ivy

A great trailer with succulent stems & waxy, ivy-like leaves. In bright light it can have daisy-like flowers & pink to purple tinted stems & leaf edges. It is a sturdy, low-maintenance plant that prefers bright light & its soil to be on the drier side.

Staghorn Fern

These large, unique, leathery leaves are a conversation starter! Naturally epiphytic plants (they grow by attaching themselves to tree trunks or limbs) they don’t need a lot of soil & are sometimes grown on plaques on walls. They prefer medium to low light & don’t need to be watered until the fronds look slightly wilted & the soil feels dry to the touch.

 

String Of Bananas

Also known as Senecio radicans, it is a fast-growing plant with cascading vines of succulent, banana-shaped leaves year round & tiny blooms during fall & winter (said to have a cinnamon-like scent). Great in containers or hanging baskets, likes bright light & water when the soil feels dry to the touch, but don’t allow it to remain bone dry.

String of Dolphins

Also known as Senecio peregrinus, it is a charming succulent plant whose leaves look like tiny jumping dolphins. A fun & unqiue plant that adds a touch of oceanic ambiance. Prefers bright but indirect light & allow soil to dry out between watering. On average, water once a week in the growing season & only once a month in the dormant months.

 

String of Pearls

Also known as Senecio rowleyanus, it is an easy & fun succulent plant. Its leaves look like green beads on a necklace that sprawl over the edges of containers or hanging baskets. Likes bright light, well-draining sandy soil and to be watered roughly once every other week in growing season & roughly once a month in the dormant season.

Tahitian Bridal Veil

A popular houseplant with long, cascading stems & small white blooms that appear from spring until fall. A beautiful hanging basket plant! Needs medium to low light & likes slightly moist soil.

 

Tradescantia

Commonly known as Wandering Jew plant, they have beautiful & colorful foliage. It is easy to grow & adds unique color to your indoor spaces. Needs bright indirect light (without enough light they get “leggy”) & slightly moist soil (water at roots to avoid leaf rot). Likes to be misted frequently & its long, vining tendrils to be pinched back -roughly a fourth of the plant, to encourage branching & increased fullness.
