About Us

Sunnyside Nursery was established in 1948 primarily to provide fruit trees and seasonal color for gardens in rural Snohomish County. Steve Smith took over the nursery in 1989 and was joined by Pauline in 1997. Together, they have watched the countryside community grow and have increased product availability to match the needs of the area.

Many first-time visitors to the nursery voice their surprise at the size of the facility and the availability of nursery stock and supplies. Natural and organic soil products include compost, mulch, fertilizers, and potting soil. Lawn care provisions are met with a reliable seed mix and other essentials. When pesticides are necessary, Sunnyside is dedicated to providing environmentally safe, yet effective, products. The store houses a great selection of gardening tools. Arbors and trellises are available in a variety of shapes and sizes to provide plant support or to stand alone as garden features, along with birdbaths, fountains, statuary, and benches. Every year, new garden decor and gift ideas are here. Our selection of pottery is outstanding, and containers can be found already planted or pots can be purchased no dirt attached.

Last but not least, Sunnyside has plants. Our selection of landscaping plants is extremely diverse. Fruit trees come to us bare root from growers in the area and we only stock varieties that are proven good producers for our climate. We also have flowering trees, shade trees, and conifers. We carry a huge array of shrubs from edibles to evergreens, flowering to decorative branching and beautiful berries. There is a wonderful selection of roses and bulbs each year. Ornamental grasses and tropical plants are well represented, along with a phenomenal display of flowering perennials. In the annual department, you'll find basket stuffers abound, with eye-catching color and texture for every season. Hanging baskets are grown for both sun and shade. And don't forget the vegetables. Sunnyside has a great selection of herb and vegetable seeds for the Pacific Northwest and starts are available with the season- cool or warm.

Sunnyside Nursery is open year round minus a couple unofficial weeks from mid December to mid January. Whether it be cold, rainy, hot, or beautiful, our philosophy is constant. Quality service. Quality product. We want to help gardeners grow and enjoy the experience at every level. We want you to "Come garden with us."
